Serving Springfield, Michigan
Springfield is the separate city of about 5,300 people that sits inside Battle Creek's borders, two road miles from where our trucks start the day.
Local & Insured
Springfield, a Calhoun County city of about 5,300, is an enclave: Battle Creek wraps it on every side, and our shop is two road miles and six minutes off, so it is our first stop most mornings. Begg Park, its largest at just under 21 acres, has a wooded disc golf course that hosted a 2008 world championship; Upton Park has the fishing pond.
The neighborhoods went up alongside Battle Creek's west side, so the yards hold seventy-year-old silver maples and box elders, Norway spruce screens and dead ash. The difference is paperwork: Springfield keeps its own city code, so a tree over a city street goes to Springfield's office, not Battle Creek's DPW.

Removal, stump grinding, trimming and lot clearing for the neighborhoods around Begg Park and every street inside the city line.

Why a Battle Creek Crew Comes to Springfield
A split silver maple over a Springfield driveway usually gets a look the same day, before the trucks head anywhere farther.
Postwar blocks got silver maple and box elder for fast shade, and Battle Creek now bans both from the curb lawn. We take the leaders over the roof first.
Norway spruce set out as 1960s screens now stand sixty feet tall between houses. Short sections keep every piece off the fence and the neighbor's roof.
Springfield's ordinances are its own. A tree over a Springfield street or sidewalk starts with a call to its city office, and we help make it.
Not for a tree standing wholly on your own lot. Battle Creek's curb-lawn permit and forestry license stop at the city line; Springfield answers to its own local ordinances, as noted above. Storm limbs get chipped or hauled, and outside city and village limits you check whether a burn permit is needed that day. More on our permits page.
A limb on the roof gets a same-day or next-day answer at (269) 555-0142. Routine jobs are usually priced within days and finished within two weeks, and after a storm Springfield keeps its place in line.
