Level Park-Oak Park is a census-designated community of about 3,260 in Bedford Charter Township, Calhoun County, just northwest of Battle Creek and twelve minutes from our shop. M-89 runs through it, five miles to downtown one way and toward Plainwell the other, and the Kalamazoo River forms its southern edge.

The river lots are sandy outwash over wet ground, growing big cottonwoods, silver maples and box elders that lean toward the water and shed limbs in every summer wind. Up along M-89 it is red oak, sugar maple, white pine and dead ash. As township ground, the paperwork differs from Battle Creek's, and we plan for that.
